We've All Been There: Tales of Tenacity Released

In 2014, I had a mental breakdown about the time that would have been my twenty-fifth anniversary.  I realized I had given half my life at the time to the same man and became overwhelmed with this thought.  I wrote a story about how I managed to make it through that many years married to a manic-depressive.  At first I only thought I wrote the story for myself but then I shared it with a few friends who believed the story would touch many lives who had been in a similar situation.  I had submitted it to one anthology but didn't make it in that one so submitted to another anthology and it was accepted.  Today, the release of We've All Been There: Tales of Tenacity has come to fruition. 

All the proceeds from the sales of this book are going to Project Semicolon which is a group that encourages those with mental illnesses to reach out and get help, no matter what form it comes in but not to feel like you are in this alone.  The stories in the book are by no means exclusive of situations that we have faced but are out there to also encourage others to know that they are not alone and they can make it through anything life has thrown their way.

Good News - Butterfly Halves

I wrote a story for young adults either last year or the year before that had been printed as an ebook, although it didn't win that contest. The first part of this year, I submitted the story to an anthology - a children's story anthology but it was rejected for that anthology asking if I would let them consider it for the faery anthology they were planning. Yesterday (Sunday) when I checked my email, there was notification that the story had been accepted for the anthology. So congrats to me for getting that story published again. Here is the cover that was attached to that story as an ebook:






Grant it, this won't be the cover, but my name will be getting out there in other places. When I have a cover for the anthology, I'll share it. From what I can tell, the publication date is slated for March 2011. Rebel Books will be the ones publishing the anthology. (Looks like the title is Rebel Wing and I'll share a cover when available.) I'll keep you all posted on the updates of the anthology - E :)

I guess I never really posted the link to The Petigru Review and should have done that. It is available at amazon.com and if you had attended the conference in Myrtle Beach last weekend, you could have gotten it for $15 plus a copy just for attending, but since most of you weren't there, then you have to buy it through amazon.com at their price of $18.89. I forgot to say that the anthology for the South Carolina Writer's Workshop (the writing group for our state with local chapters of which I am member) is available. My story - Bride-and-Seek was accepted and I actually earned a little bit of money from that. I also get three copies at the conference next weekend - two for having a story placed and one for attending the conference which will be at Myrtle Beach and I'm looking forward to a break, although it will be a busy weekend since I'm one of the volunteers and I'll be doing everything I can to help out. So I guess that makes me a professional writer. Can't wait to get my copies at the conference next weekend. (still praying for some miracles to happen so I can get down to the beach. Had to have to back out and I think today is the deadline for backing out anyway - funds are very tight and I need to pay for hotel and gas and food - so fingers crossed that some miracle happens in the next few days).

I entered and got selected

I don't know if I told you but South Carolina Writer's Workshop, SCWW, has a conference in October (for which I'm volunteering) and they put out an anthology to go with the conference. Every year before this year, the word limit had been 1750 for short stories. Well, they revamped this year and upped the ante, so to speak, and gave us 4000 word limits. So I entered my short story, Bride-and-Seek, which I had entered in Karen's contest for February (not selected or even remembered by her, according to her when I met her in February). So today, not more than half an hour ago, I received notice from the editor of the anthology to let me know my story had been selected. I will receive $5 payment and two copies of the anthology. I'm so excited. Doesn't pay a lot but hey - I'm okay with it - it gets me out there.
